Choosing your wine is never as simple as there is a lot of choice. We thought of a list of Piedmontese white wines to keep you company during summer, together with some suggestions.

There is nothing better than a cool glass of white wine in hot summer day.

Choosing your wine is never as simple as there is a lot of choice. We thought of a list of Piedmontese white wines to keep you company during summer, together with some suggestions.

Wines:

-Langhe DOC Chardonnay Antichi Poderi dei Gallina: fruity and elegant with the right acidity. It’s perfect with crisp salads and fish.

-Moscato d’Asti DOCG Antichi Poderi dei Gallina: the classic dessert wine to pair with cookies and hazelnut cake. Have you ever tried it with some tartines with mascarpone and Gorgonzola cheese? Moscato d’Asti is a fantastic wine for your aperitivo or an afternoon spent with your girlfriends.

-Valsellera Metodo Classico Cuvée Brut: if you love bubbles, you cannot live without this one! 100% Chardonnay in a very fresh version with 44 months of ageing on the lees. It pairs with nearly everything: from the aperitivo to the main meals.

-Langhe DOC Nascetta “Leonina”: the Francone 2019 novelty; it has a very aromatic and fruity bouquet and it’s super easy to sip. You will not even notice when you finish the bottle!

-Langhe DOC Arneis: the Langhe summer white wine for excellence. Straight, fresh and fruity. An extremely pleasant wine that pairs with moat of the summer dishes. Have you tried it with the Piedmontese “carpione”?

-Roero DOCG Arneis “Magia”: the real Arneis, straight from its land of origin. A version of Arneis with pulp and a fantastic tropical fruit bouquet. Easy to drink and pleasant, it is perfect for an aperitivo at the pool or to pair with pasta dishes with fish or with a rice salad.

TIPS:

  1. Always keep at least 1 bottle of white wine in your fridge to be always ready.
  2. If you forgot to chill your wine earlier and you have hosts, do not worry: put your bottles in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to chill it or for 30 minutes to serve it very cool. Do not forget to put a timer! Another method is to chill your wine bottle in a glacette filled with a bit of water, salt and ice: your wine will be chill in a jiff.
  3. Once you serve the wine, make sure to keep the bottle chilled: you can use either a glacette or an ice-cooling sleeve.
  4. Each wine needs to be served at a different temperature in order to enhance its characteristics: young white wines need to be poured at 10 - 12 °C, sweet aromatic white wines at 8 °C and white sparkling wines usually at 8 - 10 °C.
