A stroll through Neive among the local finest products

We met Angelica to introduce you to one of most important tourist attractions of the village: the Albergo Borgo Vecchio hotel and the Donna Selvatica restaurant.

The Langhe region is known for its dreamlike scenery, which attracts thousands of tourists every year who come to enjoy unique food and wine experiences while admiring the breathtaking views that can be seen from every corner of the region.
Neive is one of Italy’s most beautiful villages and, in 2014, much of its hillside landscape was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Strolling through the village, it is impossible not to notice the beauty of this hamlet, which has been carefully renovated over the years to preserve the typical architecture of the Langa region. The narrow streets of the centre are home to restaurants, wine bars, small shops and charming hotels.
Borgo Vecchio, camere di Charme, is a historic accommodation facility in the village located on the western side of the hill, offering a splendid view of the Alps, where Monviso stands out, and the Barbaresco hills.
This century-old building, located in the historic centre of the village, was renovated in 2015. The owner, Valter Casetta, wanted to create a structure inspired by the concept of a “diffused hotel”, offering a food and wine experience with typical local products and the opportunity to stay in panoramic suites enjoying the sensational view that frames the village.
We met Angelica, who is in charge of hospitality at Borgo Vecchio, and does it with a lot of passionl. She opened the doors of the hotel to show us all the beauty and attention to detail that distinguishes the building.
You can stay in 6 beautifully furnished suites offering 180-degree views of the hills and the village of Barbaresco with its medieval tower. Among the various amenities available in the rooms, such as air conditioning, smart TV and mini bar, you can request breakfast and dinner directly in your room, as well as book wellness treatments in your suite.
Angelica will provide you with an efficient reception service, booking wine tastings, transfers, dinners and much more.
In addition to the charming rooms, the hotel has an elegant restaurant, Donna Selvatica, inspired by the famous ‘wild woman’ found on Romano Levi’s grappa labels.

The courses on the menu are the result of the owner’s choice of quality local raw materials and chef Gabriele Piscitelli’s ability to translate them into something tasting and ‘beautiful to look at’. The panoramic terrace offers a breath-taking view of the hills in every season, and is the ideal place to share exclusive moments in an intimate and cosy setting.

Just a few steps away is the Osteria Borgo Vecchio, which is also part of the same estate.

The house in which the osteria is located was originally a dwelling: the small rooms recall its original purpose. It is a typical Piedmontese osteria characterised by a family service that will take you back in time, when a hot homemade dish won the hearts of travellers. It serves simple, typical Langa dishes with local ingredients.

At the end of our visit, we exchanged a few words with Angelica, thanking her for her hospitality and asking her a question: why should a tourist choose to stay in Borgo Vecchio?

Here is her answer: “A tourist should choose us because at Borgo Vecchio they would feel at home. We offer a warm and welcoming experience thanks to our high-quality services, positive and dynamic environment, and culinary excellence in a unique and inimitable setting. We spoil the tourist by focusing on his well-being, good food and good wine without forgetting the view”.
