Langhe at a Slow Pace: our interview with La Casa del Principe
Among vineyards, woods and glamping tents, a conversation with those who have made slowness a philosophy of hospitality
There are places that tell the story of the Langhe through a glass of wine, and places that tell it through hospitality. For this new stop on our journey among the excellences of the territory, we met Federica and Alberto, the young couple who, since 2016, have turned a dream into reality: Agriturismo La Casa del Principe, in Torre Bormida, in the heart of the Alta Langa.
A dream born among the woods of the Alta Langa
It all began with falling in love. “We first came to the Langhe in 2016 and fell in love with these places,” the owners recall. From there, step by step, a property was born that today combines rural tradition with charming glamping: two lodges immersed in greenery, rooms carefully curated in every detail, and a philosophy of hospitality that puts the person, not appearances, at the center.
Holidays without TV or Wi-Fi: choosing to slow down
Here you won’t find televisions or internet connection in the rooms. A deliberate choice, as the owners explain: “We want our guests to completely unplug and focus on the beauty and quiet that surrounds us.” In a world that runs fast, La Casa del Principe offers the exact opposite: silence, nature and time for oneself, in a territory that — in terms of traffic and pollution — remains a true haven.
Three words for authentic hospitality
Asked to define their hospitality in three words, Federica and Alberto have no doubts: familiarity, sharing and helpfulness. Not formal hospitality, but a friendly one — the kind reserved for a guest arriving at a friend’s home, always ready to tell the story of the place and recommend the small local businesses in the area — including, gladly, wineries like ours.
October, the perfect month to discover the Langhe
If they had to recommend just one season, they would choose autumn, especially October: often splendid days, milder temperatures than summer, and warm colors that turn the hills into a painting. The ideal time to explore villages, vineyards and hazelnut groves at a relaxed pace.
The right wine, at the right moment
And here comes the part closest to our hearts: when we asked which Cantina Francone wine they would recommend to their guests, the answer came immediately: “The Barolo, to be enjoyed during a lovely dinner under our outdoor porch, always breezy and cool, or the Nascetta for an aperitivo with cured meats and cheeses.”
Two pairings that perfectly capture the spirit of this collaboration: on one hand, the intensity and structure of Barolo for convivial evening moments; on the other, the aromatic freshness of Nascetta for a genuine aperitivo, among the flavors of the land.
A special thank you to Federica and Alberto of La Casa del Principe for their availability and for sharing a story of hospitality that, just like our wines, is born from a passion for this land.
