Evolving since 1940
Our family's history is one of people who have always looked to the future. We've been doing so for almost a century, first by recognizing the Langhe's tourism potential and today by protecting what we've inherited for future generations.
Tradition and innovation, for five generations

In our family, the company's legacy is a treasure to be passed down: today, the winery is led by the fifth generation of Francone family members. Brothers Marco and Fabrizio, with passion and expertise, lead a team of motivated and valuable collaborators, with whom they share a love for the wine and the territory.
Preserving the heart of our legacy: the family vineyards
We carefully select each grape variety and distinguish the vineyards based on the soil's suitability. The cornerstones of this philosophy are twofold: respect for the vines, cultivated according to the principles of integrated agriculture, and the vinification and maturation of the wines using techniques that maximize the value of the raw material.

At the foot of a hill that is home: the Gallina cru
The history of our family and our winery revolves around the Gallina vineyard, Neive's most famous and one of the first crus mentioned on local labels. Here, we grow Nebbiolo grapes, which give our wines depth and extreme elegance. A history written by the hands of those who work the vines, from winter pruning to harvest, repeating the same tasks for centuries.
We make wine from our vineyards in Neive, where we live

The history of Francone wines is intertwined with the birth and legend of the Barbaresco appellation. It all began with Alberto (born in 1892), who, running an inn, helped spread the family's wines. In 1940, Giovanni Battista took over the company and began making wine from the estate's vineyards. In 1964, the "new" winery was built, and his son Mauro Francone took part to his first harvest after graduating from the Alba School of Oenology. In the 1990s, Mauro's sons, first Marco and then Fabrizio, joined the company. Over the past ten years, the winery team has grown with new collaborators who, alongside the family, work diligently to preserve the character and style of our wines, from the vineyards to the winery, and even welcoming tourists and international clients visiting Alba and its surroundings.
Memories of this past are now housed in a permanent museum located within our estate.
We were pioneers of tourism in the Langhe: for over 60 years, we have welcomed wine enthusiasts from all over the world to our winery in Neive, just 10 minutes away from Alba
In Neive, as early as 1964, Giovanni Battista and his sons Mauro and Silvano realized the dream of a large new winery, which is still the company's headquarters today. Their pioneering vision was to welcome the first curious tourists, still unaware of the potential of the area, which was just then discovering its winemaking vocation.
and dry vinified sparkling wine: our first traditional method dates back to 1967
His constant passion for experimentation pushed Giovanni Battista Francone, at a time when the Langhe was predominantly a land of Moscato, to travel to France to study the classic method with the masters of Champagne, laying the foundations for what would become today's Alta Langa.
